AI document translator by Official Translation
Can't read it? See it in plain English, usually within two minutes.
Upload a PDF or photo of a letter, certificate or statement in another language. AI translates every line into English and shows it beside the original, so you know what it says and what to do next.

Translating every line into English. This usually takes under two minutes. Please keep this page open.
The translation was cut off, so the end is missing. This upload is still charged. For a PDF, upload the remaining pages on their own.
We don't keep this translation. Copy it or download the PDF before you leave this page.
AI translation for understanding only. It is not a certified translation. Where an official body asks for a certified translation, order one by a NAATI-certified translator.
How it works
Plain English in three steps
Sign in with your email
We email you a sign-in link. There is no password to create or remember.
Upload a PDF or photo
A PDF of up to 5 pages and 10 MB, or a JPG, PNG, WEBP or GIF photo of up to 7.5 MB. Tick the consent box and press Translate into English.
Read it, then save it
The English appears beside the original, usually within two minutes. Copy it or download it as a PDF before you leave, because we don't keep it.
What you get
The original on one side. English on the other.
Every field, label, stamp, handwritten note and footnote is translated in reading order, with headings, labels and tables kept in place. Text it can't read is marked [illegible]. Stamps, signatures and photos are described in square brackets.
Know what it says today
You don't have to wait days or ask a friend to translate it. The English is usually ready within two minutes, while the letter is still in your hand.
Translated as a document, not a paragraph
A bank statement still reads like a bank statement, page for page, so you can find each figure next to the original. Download it as a PDF laid out like the original, or copy it into Word or an email.
If a translation fails, your credits come back
If a translation is refused, can't be read, hits an error or times out, the credits go back to your account automatically.
Order a certified translation only when you need one
Official Translation sells translations by NAATI-certified translators. Read your documents here first, then order a certified translation only for the ones an official body asks for.
Works with most languages
Including French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Arabic and Hindi. It translates into English only.
Phone photos and scans
Photograph the page flat, in good light, with all four edges in view. Clear photos give the best result.

Certified translations
Need it for an official purpose?
This AI translation helps you understand a document. It is not a certified translation. Don't use it where a government agency, court, university or other official body asks for a certified translation. For that, order a translation by a NAATI-certified translator from Official Translation.
Order a certified translationQuestions
Before you upload
Is this a certified translation?
No. It's an AI translation to help you understand a document. Don't use it where an official body asks for a certified translation. For that, order a translation by a NAATI-certified translator at officialtranslation.com.au.
Which languages can it translate?
Most languages, including French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Arabic and Hindi. It translates into English only.
What files can I upload?
A PDF of up to 5 pages and 10 MB, or a photo (JPG, PNG, WEBP or GIF) of up to 7.5 MB and 8000 pixels on each side. Upload a longer PDF in parts of up to 5 pages each. A PDF with security settings that stop copying or printing can't be read here: upload a photo or screenshot of each page instead.
How long does it take?
Usually within two minutes. Each upload has a limit of about 110 seconds. If it runs out of time, it stops and your credits come back automatically.
What if the translation fails?
Credits are taken when a translation starts. If it is refused, can't be read, hits an error or times out, they come back automatically, usually at once and at worst within 15 minutes. One exception: if a very long document is cut off, you get the part that was translated, and the credits used are not returned.
Do my credits expire?
Yes. Pack credits (1, 5 or 10) expire one month after you buy them. Monthly plan credits reset each month, and unused credits don't roll over. Buy only what you expect to use within the month.
Is my document private, and do you keep the translation?
We don't store your file or its translation. Your history shows only the date, file type, page count and status. The file is sent to Anthropic in the USA to be translated and, under Anthropic's commercial API terms, is not used to train AI models. Copy the translation or download the PDF before you leave the page, because it can't be recovered later.
Can it read handwriting and phone photos?
It translates both, but the result depends on how clear they are. Anything it can't read is marked [illegible]. For the best result, photograph the page flat, in good light, with all four edges in view.
How do I cancel the monthly plan?
Email support@officialtranslation.com.au from the address you signed in with. A cancellation that reaches us at least two business days before your next payment date stops that payment. You keep the credits for the month you've paid for until that month ends. Pack credits you bought separately aren't affected.
Can my business use it for larger volumes?
Yes. The monthly plan gives 30 credits a month for A$49.99 (A$1.67 a page), and unused credits don't roll over. Each account can translate up to 60 pages in any 24 hours. If you need more, email support@officialtranslation.com.au.
